The city of Holiday Island is an active community nestled in the natural beauty of the Ozarks at the headwaters of Table Rock Lake . With a marina , two golf courses , two swimming pools , multiple tennis courts , miles of hiking trails , and a beautiful community garden , you are guaranteed to always have something to do .
“ Holiday Island offers recreational activities for all ages ,” said Peggy Lodewyks , president of the Holiday Island Chamber of Commerce . “ The breathtaking vistas and scenic beauty , along with a wide variety of wildlife , showcase the magnificence of the Ozarks .”
Lodewyks has been proud to call Holiday Island her home since 2016 . In addition to the Chamber of Commerce , She is also the co-founder and treasurer of the Carroll County Youth Literacy Rotary Foundation , which is the Dolly
Parton Imagination Library affiliate for Carroll County .
“ The City of Holiday Island spreads across over 5,300 acres sitting on the 53,000-acre Table Rock Lake ,” Lodewyks said . “ It is a peaceful , country community , but only an hour drive to Branson , Fayetteville , Rogers , Bentonville and Bella Vista , and only 10 minutes to Eureka Springs and 25 minutes to Berryville .”
Holiday Island had its origins as a development on beautiful Table Rock Lake . In 1970 , the Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District ( HISID ) was formed by order of the Carroll County Court . Holly Corporation and McCulloch Corporation were then the owners and developers of Holiday Island . The stated purpose for the HISID ’ s formation was to provide water , sewer , waste management and fire services to Holiday Island property owners , and to maintain roads and recreational facilities in Holiday Island .
In 1990 , Tom Dees purchased the developer assets and was instrumental in building major additions like The Park commercial district and The Bluffs subdivision .
“ A wide variety of businesses are located within our boundaries , offering convenient access and parking to services ,” Lodewyks said . “ We are growing a lakeside community with young families mixing with the very active retirees .”
Over the years , several attempts were made to incorporate Holiday Island as a city and on Dec . 3 , 2020 , the Carroll County Court again signed an order establishing the incorporation after a vote on the issue in the November election .
“ We invite you to call the Holiday Island Chamber of Commerce to set up tours of Holiday Island to experience the beauty yourself ,” Lodewyks said .
